Lisa from D66 is the first transgender person in the House of Representatives

It seems so wonderful to me. That you work hard for years (not only for your own interests, but also for those of a larger group of people) and then all the puzzle pieces suddenly fall into place. Lisa van Ginneken can relate. She is the first transgender person in parliament and is making history with this.
Lisa (48 years old, resident of Amsterdam) will advocate for LGBTQI+ people in the House. She has high on the agenda that transgender and intersex people can decide for themselves about medical interventions. ‘Thank you voters for writing history with me. Transgender people now have direct representation in our national politics. I am happy and grateful,’ she writes this morning on Twitter.
Meanwhile in the intercity from Amsterdam to The Hague...
