Traveling by night train to Prague, Venice, and Milan

Still just in time for a city trip at the end of the year? Then you're in luck, because you can now quickly head abroad: by train. Just think of Prague, Milan, or Venice. While you sleep, you'll be there.

OMG, what a party is this? Just do some shopping in Milan or ski in Innsbruck for a weekend. From now on, the train goes directly to all these lovely European destinations: much better for the environment than flying. And what's even better: they are night trains. You snooze and hop, you're there the next day. The new night train, with 700 beds, runs twice a week to tourist hotspots like Prague, Vienna, Venice, Innsbruck, Verona, and Milan. In the Netherlands, you can soon depart in the evening from Amsterdam, Breda, Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, or Arnhem. The next morning, you'll arrive in your new trendy city.

If you want to book right away: the idea is called GreenCityTrip.nl and is from the Breda travel organization Flywise. According to the owners, the demand for a sustainable alternative to flying is high. “With this step, we as a travel organization are leading the way to allow travelers to travel even more responsibly. Did you know that you save 700 kilograms of CO2 by traveling by train?” says co-owner Maarten Bastian. And that's true: flying is just not really of this time anymore, especially not for destinations that are actually quite close. But good train options weren't available yet, but from now on you can book your city trip. Also, due to the corona period, people are increasingly reluctant to fly, but still want to get away for a bit. A romantic getaway has never been so accessible, right?

Great for all the shopping lovers among us and for everyone who isn't exactly into light traveling: you can take unlimited luggage. You can already book a train, five days away, and a hotel for just 199 euros. The competition with low-cost flights is officially on. Who's booking?
