Vandaag eten we cannoli

If this were a Tuesday dilemma and I had to choose between cheese and chocolate for the rest of my life, it would be cheese. I love salty, savory, and spicy, but there is one sweet treat that makes me hesitate. It comes from Sicily and I officially consider this the best dessert on earth: cannoli. I even have a nickname for this Italian piece of happiness: knollies. This will someday make me look ridiculous in Italy, you can count on that.

One takes the respective Sicilian cookie with chocolate (that one is allowed), fills it with ricotta, sugar, and an ingredient of choice, and you have heaven in a shell. I personally love the variant with limoncello and pistachio. Of course, you can try to make them yourself, as there is surely a nice recipe floating around online, but I prefer to get them from Viviamo in Woerden. For ten euros, you get four, so I would order eight. This little car ride is a useful and great Easter activity. A bottle of homemade limoncello on the side and nothing more to do.
