Sometimes you have those sigh moments. The blissful sigh. Shoulders relaxed, everything is right, everything is nice. You feel good. This weekend I had such a moment at the Pullitzer hotel. Jansz reopened its doors. The elegant neighborhood restaurant in the Nine Streets with a special place in my heart. The question of whether I would like to try their new menu. A question you don't think long about. Sunglasses on, family along, cold glass of wine please and oh, shall we also have a portion of oysters? Just in the mood for it. We started in the courtyard of the Pullitzer (also very nice to reserve for lunch by the way), then rolled over to the bar for a cocktail and ended up in Jansz.

Long story short: this was a sigh experience and yes: it was mainly due to Arnout. Mr. van der Kolk is the new chef of Jansz. and what this man creates as colorful artworks on your plate is not normal. The green asparagus with anchovy butter and pickled egg. The sea bass crudo with fennel and orange. The cauliflower with peanuts and herbs. Ugh. You want this.

If you think this sounds like a place for me, Reestraat 8 is where you want to make a reservation. And, say hi to Arnout from me.
