Recently I gave the tip of The Mole: Undercover in North Korea, which can be found on NPO Start. It turned out I wasn't the only one fascinated by North Korea. Now, that's not the only country I'm fascinated by (not by a long shot, by the way). Countries with a side you don't know, and that are even grimmer than you can imagine: I love it. Yes, every now and then I can be quite grim, that's clear.

Because I also found the documentary series Through the Heart of China incredibly fascinating. It's already a plus that it has two seasons with multiple episodes (so you'll be occupied with it longer than The Mole), but my god, you really haven't seen China like this before. I knew it wasn't all roses and sunshine there, but this is a very different side. Not Beijing, Hong Kong, or Shanghai — it takes place mostly in the countryside, in the north, and generally just places you won't go. Where you are not welcome at all. Ah, I could summarize the whole series, but believe me: just watch it.
