today we do: have your cup size measured

Things I learned this week: eight hours of the hospitality industry closing is really too early, my new house is a sauna with temperatures like those this week, and I've been wearing the wrong bra size for years. Yeah, those are some life lessons, right? Now I can actually do something about just that last one (because of course all the air conditioners were not available again), so I did that right away.

The last time I had my bra size measured was in a Victoria’s Secret store in New York, quite a few years ago. Since then, I've gotten thicker, thinner, and then thicker again, and so on. And yet I stubbornly keep buying that same size from back then... That's not very practical, but I always find it so awkward to really ask for advice in a store.

Now I was at the Hunkemöller in Kalverstraat this week (Amsterdam locals or people shopping in Amsterdam: this is where you need to be for the most beautiful bras and bikinis) and I really had that whole Victoria’s Secret experience but better, and in the Netherlands. Win-win. My size was measured and I could try on one of each model to see which suited me best. And then comes the decision stress, because all models are really available in a ton of variants, so I decided not to decide and walked out with a way too full bag. But with bras that fit me, that’s for sure.

The chances are high that you are also wearing the wrong size (according to research, that’s 80 percent), so believe me: step into a Hunkemöller store and you will be amazed (I had to go up two cup sizes. TWO.).
