It took a while, but here we are: I've changed my mind. Yes, really. I've also started listening to podcasts. And I actually thought it wouldn't be for me, that I wouldn't have the patience for it, but I take it all back. It's wonderfully calming, and as a true crime enthusiast, the choices are truly enormous.
Because yes, so far I've focused on true crime podcasts. On Reddit, I read endlessly on the subreddit Unsolved Mysteries, because those are my favorites. Is it weird to say that you have favorites when it comes to murder cases and disappearances? By now, I've gotten past the embarrassment of my fascination and slight obsession with true crime.
And in that category, I have a really nice tip for you today: the Down The Hill podcast, which consists of ten episodes and is about the Delphi Murders in the small town of Delphi, Indiana. There, the teenagers Abby and Libby (13 and 14 years old) were found in a park, near a bridge, where they went missing the day before.
What makes this case so striking is that it seems the two girls sensed that something was wrong; when they were on the bridge, Libby started filming with her mobile phone. In that footage, you can see an unknown man walking over the bridge towards them. There are moving images of the murderer, his voice has also been recorded, DNA seems to have been found (although it's unclear if it's usable), and yet the murderer is still not caught, four years later.
In the podcast, various police officers speak, as well as family members and friends. A beautiful picture is painted of how the girls were, but the case is also deeply explored. Very interesting, so true crime lovers: check this out on Spotify.
