Isn't it just too nice to wake up somewhere else than in your own bedroom every now and then? Even if you live less than ten minutes away, it immediately feels like you've been away for a bit. Because that's exactly what I did, a night away in a ’new’ hotel just a stone's throw from my own house: the completely renovated Hotel Casa Amsterdam. And when you follow my example, be sure to book a nice dinner at restaurant EAST right away. I warn you in advance: you will definitely order the whole menu, because everything is honestly so delicious. They are small dishes so you order about three per person, but if your friend is 196 cm tall like mine, a little more is needed. I didn't mind at all, of course, because this way I could taste a bit of everything. Extra tip: take the dessert to the rooftop terrace (on the eighth floor) and hang out there for a while, with a nice cocktail for example. Even though this hotel feels almost like a home game for me, that sunset is still much more beautiful from this height. You are at Casa among the locals, but I also saw many tourists who had just checked in. How nice that this is increasingly the case, those holidaymakers heading to the city? And for me, it felt like I was really getting away, with all sorts of different languages around me.

Last but certainly not least: the bedrooms at Casa all have fresh new beds that are divine to sleep in. After an evening of cocktails, you are guaranteed to sleep like a baby here. And that for not even the top price, because the prices of the rooms here are very nice for the wallet.
