today we tip citizens

If you've ever been to Copenhagen, you understand that I'm still quite enjoying it. I was there for four days last week and seriously: what a lovely city it is. The people who gave me the only tip beforehand that I should ‘bring a lot of money’: you were definitely right. It is quite an expensive city, but don't let that hold you back. Honestly, it is one of the most enjoyable city trips I've had in a long time.

You can easily cycle around (as in: it is really a bike city so you can find bike paths almost everywhere), the hospitality is really not normal fun there, the people are friendly and it is a true shopping paradise. Okay, okay, and you can also soak up some culture.

Since I’ve been to New York, I actually have a standard go-to when I look for a hotel for a city trip. I stayed at the CitizenM at Bowery and it was such a relief. Very affordable, nice and clean rooms, a good and varied breakfast and perhaps most importantly: delicious beds. That was a huge plus with a jet lag, and for me — as a person with sleep problems — also a personal plus.

So when I googled whether they had one in Copenhagen, the choice was quickly made. Because yes, there is also a CitizenM there. And just like in New York, it is in a prime location, namely at Radhuspladsen. Mega central, everywhere bike rentals from Donkey Republic (also a recommendation, it goes via an app and is very cheap) and you are in the Danish Meat Packing District (they call it Kodbyen or Vesterbro, but my Danish pronunciation leaves something to be desired), within five minutes in the main shopping street Stroget and with less than ten minutes of cycling you arrive at Nyhavn, with the famous colored houses.

And those beds? Yes, they are already so good here too. My goodness, I have slept so well here. And with such an expensive city as Copenhagen, it is very nice that such a good hotel as this is just really great for the wallet. CitizenM, till we meet again.
