Weekrexia: hardly eating during the week so you can let loose on the weekend

A new form of anorexia has emerged: weekrexia. It is not yet an official condition as described in the DSM, but many women can recognize it.

What does it entail? Very simple: hardly eating during the week so that you can let loose on the weekend.

Danger
If you are constantly preoccupied with whether or not you are gaining weight, you can make it very difficult for yourself. For example, you might live on two apples all of Monday because you just had a bitterbal and a beer on Sunday. You want to compensate extremely: on the weekend you go out and do fun things with family and friends, during the week you want to ensure that your calorie intake is back in balance. And so you almost starve yourself from Monday morning to Friday afternoon. It can be dangerous, just like ‘regular’ anorexia nervosa is.

Zero calories
In principle, as a woman, you should consume around 2000 calories per day. Weekrexia ensures that you might consume 3000 calories in a day on the weekend, but during the week only a maximum of 1000. You compensate with everything you drink and eat on the weekend, because on the weekend you ‘allow’ yourself that. And it also applies: your friends with whom you have drinks on Saturday night do not notice that you are actually compulsively focused on your eating pattern and that you are actually ‘suffering’ from a certain form of an eating disorder. No one knows, so you can continue living on a cup of broth and sixteen glasses of water... Brrr. To lose weight, you need to consume 3,500 calories less per week.

We say: be kind to yourself and your body. Treat yourself to that piece of cake on Sunday at a birthday, and just make sure you get enough vitamins and everything throughout the week to feel good. But live and let live, please don't make it too hard on yourself. That size 34 is no longer that impressive, believe us.
