Wiekes Weetjes: 10 facts you didn't need to know either

Yeah, it's time for grim facts again. Ten of them, to be exact, which you could have easily lived without. You genuinely have a perfectly fine life without having read these ten things. In fact, maybe even better. Because some are quite bizarre, grim, or just sick. So here it is: sorry in advance.
1. The Romans used to use urine as toothpaste. I have so many questions about this: who was the first to do this? And especially: why?!
2. About 100 billion people have ever died. Currently, there are 7.9 billion people living on the planet. If there is an afterlife, it must be really crowded there, it's unmanageable.
3. At this moment, your bones are wet. Yes, think about that for a moment. How weird is that?
4. The smell of vomit comes from butyric acid, which also gives off the smell of Parmesan cheese. Interestingly, during a study, people found it pleasant when they were told it was cheese and were disgusted when they learned it was vomit they were smelling.
5. Sloths can die from starvation even if they have a full stomach. Those animals are so slow in everything, even their digestion is so slow that if they eat too late, it can't be processed in time.
6. There is a whale named 52 Blue that sings at a different frequency (yes, whales sing) than its peers and thus cannot communicate with anything. The loneliest whale ever. Sad.
7. If a man with herpes ejaculates in your eye, you can get herpes there. Eye herpes. Yup, that's a thing.
8. Until the 1980s, babies did not receive anesthesia during surgeries because they thought babies could not feel pain. What. The. Fuck.
9. Criminals who are found unattractive receive an average prison sentence that is 50 percent longer than their attractive fellow criminals who did the same thing.
10. A dentist in China was executed because he compared mangoes to sweet potatoes. Whut? Well, Mao Zedong had a love for mangoes, so this comparison could absolutely not. Bizarre.
