You have definitely eaten these iconic ice creams from the past

First getting a ‘go’ from your parents and then skipping towards the snack bar with a rijksdaalder in your pocket for an ice cream. It felt like the ultimate happiness. Once there, hesitating for ten minutes in front of that folding sign (a child is never in a hurry) to eventually trudge home with a sorbet-mango-watermelon or supersonic super sweet chewing gum ball thing.
Why don't we order some ice creams anymore? Is it because we've realized they weren't actually that good? Or because we feel ashamed because it's ‘not appropriate’ as adults? And if it's the latter, will we stop that very quickly? Time for the Oscars of ice creams: you definitely devoured these as a child.
The treasure chest
Yeeeears a big favorite. That blue box, half chocolate and half vanilla flavor. Scraping it with that little spoon was the best. It wasn't really about the ice cream, but about the surprise in the lid of the treasure chest, duh.
Crackle ice
Honestly: it was a weird sensation, that crackle ice, but how cool is it when you could then let your friends hear with your mouth open at their ear that it (yes!) really crackled?
The chewing gum cup
Mmm. In hindsight, I didn't really find this super sweet thing that tasty. It was again about the treat hidden at the end. The (also not necessarily tasty) and ROCK HARD chewing gum ball at the end.
Solero Shots
Oooooo I almost completely forgot about these but HOW, because I immediately crave them! That chill water ice that consisted of hundreds of neon green and bright orange mini balls. Eww so refreshing for those hot summer days. That cardboard cup never survived though. And the last balls always ended up in a mush.
Bug Pops
DO WE STILL KNOW THESE? TIMON & PUMBAA ICE CREAMS WITH WINE GUMS IN THE SHAPE OF INSECTS. OKAY, fuck it, I'm going to get those today. Do those things even still exist? Oh no, of course not. Only in the 00’s. Shit...
Traffic light ice cream
The only iconic ice cream commercial I can remember. ‘Hey, it's green! Oh, and now it's red again.’ Actually, this ice cream was called Fruit Joy, but we didn't call it that. ‘Maaaam, can I have a traffic light ice cream?’
Fantasmikos
Maybe you should google this one, but once you see it you'll think: WOW, oh yes, this was a classic! That bag with the tiniest ice creams with a kind of glaze over them on a plastic stick. Entire Facebook pages have been created to bring back the Fantasmikos from Nestlé, but unfortunately, they can only be found in Spain now.
Danoontje ice creams
In the summer, these were a must-have for every freezer. First of all, the DIY concept was just really nice. Even your parents liked this!
Clown ice
It already looked quite old school even in the 00’s (and almost never looked good in photos, a bit freaky), but it was tasty. With that chewing gum ball as a nose.
