Why you want to book an Adult Only hotel once

Why you want to book an Adult Only hotel once

It's official: my winter blues are in full swing. Unfortunately, that's an unwanted guest that knocks on the door every winter. And even though I often jokingly tell my friends that I'm not making too many plans because of these winter blues (because of low energy, little motivation, little cheerfulness), it's really just quite annoying. And for me (and I guess for many), the solution is pretty obvious: go to the sun. You do have to fly for quite a while, but it's definitely worth it.

While I'm up for an activity here and there during the summer vacation, in winter I mainly want to enjoy the sun, lie by the pool (preferably with a cocktail in hand), and not be disturbed. Does that sound familiar? Believe me, then you also want to go to an adult only hotel.

I was there at the beginning of this year, in beautiful Jamaica, and it was truly heaven on earth. I stayed at two locations of Sandals Resorts: South Beach and Royal Caribbean. This was my first experience with an adult only hotel that was also all-inclusive. Yep, I already said it was heaven on earth for me, and that's actually an understatement. This chain mainly targets couples, so as a romantic getaway, it's really a recommendation. But I was there solo, and I can tell you: it's also a great place to be, you know.

The resort was bursting with restaurants (from authentic Jamaican to Thai, to Italian), but also with bars. And those cocktails, I still dream of them. Just imagine: the only ‘choice stress’ you have in a day is which of the handful of pools you're going to lie by today, what you're going to eat, and which cocktail you're going to order. Really, that's exactly what I need at this moment.

This was my first time in Jamaica and I really fell a bit in love with the island, and with the resorts of Sandals. They recently opened one in Curaçao that I've got my eye on, so who knows, that might be my next vacation destination (and remedy for my winter blues). You can find Sandals Resorts throughout the Caribbean, so for example also in the Bahamas, Barbados, and St. Lucia.

Personally, I would go there purely for the peace and quiet, so it's really ideal for couples. If you want more activity, that's also possible: they also have activities like diving or golfing and a spa for a (couple) massage. So if you're looking for a destination (possibly with your partner): check out the Sandals website. You won't regret it.
