This month is Bacardi Rum Month and we are celebrating it with these cocktails

Bacardi Rum Month party tips walk

Fun fact about myself that exactly no one is interested in: the first cocktail I ever drank – and which immediately became my favorite for the coming years – was the mojito. Admittedly: it was a very sweet variant in Lloret de Mar that (as I later found out) really had very little to do with a real mojito. When I finally tasted a good mojito, it was quite different. And of course, it was really much tastier.

Last Friday, I tasted one again for the first time in a long time. This month is a celebration, because July is Bacardi Rum Month. Now, that is a month close to my alcohol-loving heart, so when I was asked to join the Bacardi Rum Walk on Friday, I didn't have to think long. Normally, you don't have to invite me for ‘walks’, but this Friday I happily joined. The plan included cocktail bar Law & Order, The Duchess, and Bar TwentySeven, in other words: three hotspots where I wanted to grab a drink.

This year, three iconic cocktails are in the spotlight: the mojito, the daiquiri, and the Pina Colada. But with a twist; for example, the mojito at Law & Order had eucalyptus, the daiquiri at The Duchess had Thai basil and lime (so refreshingly delicious), and Bar TwentySeven made a variant of the mojito with tzatziki. Brilliant, right?

Really, my tip for this weekend: go on the Bacardi Rum Walk yourself to these three spots. These are definitely places you should visit for a drink, and this is the perfect opportunity while you also get to enjoy a nice round through the city center. Win-win, because that will be rewarded with a nice cocktail.

In fact, I might just go again tomorrow. I have been working on my cocktail skills at home with Bacardi rum, and that went… somewhat less successfully. Those cocktail shakers there can do that a bit better. Or shall we just start the weekend a little earlier with a cocktail tonight? I say: cheers.
