Bachelor babbles: the reunion

Thomas the bachelor

Dear readers, I have neglected you. I know. I'm sorry. I was abroad for a week and couldn't watch The Bachelor there, and when I got home I watched the finale and thought: well. Normally, I love so much about all the episodes, but I found the finale really a bit... Boring? We had known for ages that Merel was going to win, Maureen herself saw it coming too, we had seen it for weeks, so I skipped it. Mea culpa. But I'm back one more time because this reunion has to make it this season. Will Merel and Thomas still be together? I seriously guess so, but with the disclaimer that ‘it's not official and they are dating in the Netherlands‘. Okay, for the last time: let’s goooo.

1. Ooooh, I completely forgot about Romy. Looking forward to her getting the word.

2. Rick: ‘Faith is sick.’
Me: ‘...Who is Faith?’

3. #daretoask: why do people so often answer ‘busy’ — in this case Romy — when asked if everything is okay? Is that the standard nowadays for whether you are doing well or not? I'm really doing just fine when I have some peace, you know. Actually, I prefer it.

4. Meine gute, I realize I've forgotten so much already, like Patricia. I see all those tearful faces during the recap that had to leave back then, and my memory is just blank.

5. Danique: ‘I was a bit disappointed, to be honest. No offense, but I expected a bit more.’ Wait, what? You expected more from someone you absolutely don't know and for whom you signed up as a potential love just because they are a celebrity? Colour me ~shocked~.

6. It would also be quite nice if Indigo and Rijk hadn't spoken to each other; that guy has dedicated about seven YouTube videos entirely to his mission to get her on a date.

7. My neck hairs are standing a bit on end seeing those cocktail parties. That ‘can I speak to you one-on-one?’ really gives me flashbacks to the times my department head came to pull me out of class.

8. Love the drinking game, Inge: every time the word ‘adventure’ comes up: SHOTS. Better that I only know this now, otherwise I wouldn't have made it through a single episode sober. Although, maybe that finale would have been a bit more exciting.

9. Just leave it to Rick to get the girls drunk with these kinds of games.

10. Now that I see Maureen's farewell again, it really is quite blunt. ‘Maureen, I don't want to let you go. I want to keep you with me.’ *lets Maureen go* This is why I have trust issues.

11. Aah, I actually find Maureen really likable during this reunion. And honestly: I can understand that she is quite hurt by Thomas's explanation. It's pretty sour when you get the label ‘dream woman’ and then five seconds later you're outside because you've been rejected.

12. It's a pity that Thomas couldn't choose two girls in the finale because from what I see, I think Maureen is quite a nice match for him.

13. Does anyone know if Giel is still single and if so, whether he is going to sign up for The Bachelor and if so, where you can sign up? Asking for a friend.

14. Giel: ‘He really kept his mouth shut very well, huh.’
Rijk Hofman in his YouTube video: ‘I already know who it is because Thomas told me himself.’

15. Oooh, how lovely and homely, this first glimpse into their relationship in the Netherlands. Baguettes ready, snacks, Merel happily studying... It does feel a bit like a positive note that will end with a ‘but...’

16. Buuut I have good hope that they are still together. Fingers crossed. And that winter sports trip, we already knew that thanks to the juice channels, of course.

17. The cutest are those videos of the two, and they even celebrated Christmas together. Nah, this can't go wrong. Finally a dating show where the couples are still together. Hallelujah.

18. YAAAA. Pop that champagne. I have faith in love again. This is just a rock-solid program. The Bachelor has a 50 percent success rate so far, and I think that's extremely high.

19. Rick also as proud Bachelor-dad at the head of the table. It would seriously be quite fun if he becomes the next participant. Bet that will be an incredibly juicy season?

20. Guys, I thought it was a beautiful season. Super sweet, but lovely. And with a successful ending. We laughed, we cried, we saw sixteen single ladies of which I apparently don't remember half, but Thomas has found love. Mission accomplished.
