Balenciaga now sells a garbage bag bag for $1.790
Sorry, but we really can't ignore this anymore, can we? When Balenciaga came out with the worn-out shoes I already had this suspicion, but now that they are genuinely selling a garbage bag, it's clear: they are doing it on purpose. There at the headquarters of this fashion brand, they are all laughing at us, I am sure of it. Let's see how crazy that consumer actually is. ‘How far can we go? Those worn-out shoes were just a hit. While you should actually just throw them in the trash. Hey, trash! Wait a second, I have a brilliant idea... What if we launch a garbage bag and present it as the new fashion bag?‘
So I guess that's how the conversation went there at Balenciaga, because I refuse to believe that they really think their bag ‘The Trash Pouch’ is genuinely a fashion statement. Or that there are designers who have spent hours toiling over this design. I was just in the supermarket today and I saw exactly this model, but then a bit cheaper and even more compact, because it was nicely rolled up. Even worse: I threw one away today when I tossed the trash into the dumpster.
The variants from Balenciaga are of course ~HiGh FaShIoN~ and so you will have to dig deep into your pockets if you want to walk around with this: they go for $1.790 over the counter. In the beautiful colors black, blue (seriously, that garbage bag color blue) and white. But hey, they are made of calf leather. A must-have item for this year. Be quick, because these are selling like hotcakes...
