Science says: champagne is good for our skin

For those who feel guilty for not having a Dry January – or are really bummed that this resolution has already failed – I have good news. We (yes, I belong to this group too) can actually work on a radiant skin and our memory while enjoying a glass of champagne. Well, that sounds like a dream, right?
Research shows that champagne can have a positive effect on our skin. According to dermatologist Marina Peredo, especially people with oily and impure skin benefit from champagne. This is due to the many antioxidants and tartaric acid in champagne, which help achieve a more even complexion. Additionally, the antibacterial properties of champagne help to get rid of pimples. Sounds ideal. But how many glasses should we drink to notice any effects? Well, apparently it is more effective to apply champagne on a cotton pad and use it to cleanse your face. Hmm, that suddenly makes it a very expensive tonic and less appealing. Oh well, drinking it will surely help too, right?
In addition, champagne contains quite a few calories and we don't get a serious hangover from it. And one last nice benefit: champagne seems to improve the health of your brain. Researchers from the English University of Reading have discovered that three glasses of champagne a day can help prevent Alzheimer's. How is that possible? The secret lies in the phenolic acid of the grape variety. Phenol nourishes the proteins that maintain spatial memory. As we age, the function of those proteins decreases, and thus the ability to remember things. Drinking champagne slows down that process. Well, I actually only see benefits from drinking champagne and even more reason to not have a Dry January Dry January.
