Everything comes together for Bibi Breijman

Wednesday afternoon, restaurant Breda on the Singel in Amsterdam. Bibi’s mother’s rough-haired dachshund peeks over the edge of its carrying bag, her grandmother shakes hands with the beauty press and stands out in her Indonesian dress and headband. The atmosphere is friendly yet a bit nervous. Bibi opens the gates of her Instagram (‘Sometimes you just don’t feel like hearing the opinion of half of the Netherlands’), but as the new ambassador of Max Factor it is quite handy to be tagged, she thinks.

Then the moment arrives. Bibi clears her throat and steps onto a chair. ‘I, with my short height, need a bit of help,’ she says before she starts.

Everything comes together for Bibi as the ambassador of Max Factor. ‘As a young girl, I was already enviously peeking at my mother’s makeup. When I was still in elementary school, I was already eyeing my mother’s mascara. One day, next to my lunchbox was that 2000 Calorie Max Factor mascara and I took it with me. At school, I secretly put on makeup in the bathroom and I felt absolutely amazing. Until my mother suddenly stood in front of me. At school. I had forgotten my lunchbox. I was so embarrassed and felt so caught that I turned bright red. Well, at least I had that blush right away.’

Together with her regular makeup artist Naïma Bremer, she developed three looks for Max Factor: the Soft Glam (schoolyard everyday), Classic Glam (date night), and the Festive Glam (party with smoky eyes).

Think: the perfect red lipstick (also for daytime), a full mascara, a pencil that I am already very happy with, a lip gloss, and a matching pencil.

Bibi was of course the prettiest at lunch, closely followed by that wonderful grandmother. I didn’t snoop in their bags, but one thing I know for sure: those three generations all have the 2000 Calories mascara from Max Factor in their pocket.
