For the crazy cat ladies: 5x cat cafés

cat cafés in the Netherlands

Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: for the crazy cat ladies: 5 x cat cafés.

It has been twenty years since the world's first cat café opened in Taiwan: Cat Flower Garden, or actually: 貓花園. Since then, hundreds of cat cafés have opened their doors worldwide. Also in the Netherlands, and we have listed five in a row.

Cat Café Kopjes – Amsterdam
The first cat café in the Netherlands opened its doors in April 2015 in Amsterdam-West. Eight cats (three males and five females) live there, all coming from the shelter. To keep the four-legged friends happy and healthy, an entrance fee of three euros is requested. And to keep yourself just as happy and healthy, you can indulge in red velvet cake and hibiscus lemonade. If that doesn't make you purr...

Pebbles Kitty Cat Café – Rotterdam
At Pebbles, eight cats also live: Luna, Pixel, Pim, Pom, Giny, Roffa, Misty, and Shade, all from the shelter. Here too, you pay an entrance fee: €2.50 from Wednesday to Friday or €3.50 on the weekend. But then you can enjoy playing a game with a purring cat on your lap, reading a book, and of course, sipping a warm cup of coffee or tea.

Cat Paradise Mispoes – Den Bosch
Whether you want to start your day with rusks with old cheese or jam or enjoy lunch with wraps, paninis, or a club sandwich, it definitely gets better if you can cuddle with a cat in the meantime, right? At Mispoes, three of the eight cats even have names to eat: Noodle, Taco, and Sushi. If that’s not foodie names, we don’t know what is.

Cat Café Op z’n Kop – Groningen
At Cat Café Op z’n Kop, you can not only have breakfast and lunch but also dinner. Every day they serve a daily special from 5:00 PM (think of lasagna, quiche, or a pasta salad for €8.95) while Timon, Bojangles Junior, Dove Benny, Thomas O’Malley, Dotje, Lientje, Puck, and Moby frolic around happily.

Cat Café Katdeau – Hengelo
Allergic to cat hair? At Cat Café Katdeau in Hengelo, only Sphynx cats live. Yes, they may look a bit less cute and fluffy, but Borrel, Nootje, Cashew, Pretzel, and Tuc are just as friendly as their names suggest. Moreover, you can also find – as the name suggests – gift items at Katdeau.
