So different is Charlotte ‘in real life’
I know it doesn't make any sense, but somehow you identify a character with the actor themselves. Sometimes I find it almost a shame when I see the actor as themselves because the myth then somewhat falls away. Silly of me, because that is the essence of the profession. Charlotte York-Goldenblatt, one of my favorites from Sex and the City, is really diametrically opposed to the actress herself: Kristin Davis. Or maybe not. In any case, I find both of them particularly likable.
1. They both adopted a child
Charlotte and Harry adopt Lily, Kristin adopted daughter Gemma Rose (funny because Harry and Charlotte's second daughter is named Rose) and in 2018, son Wilson joined them.
2. Kristin is a ‘recovering alcoholic’
She has always been very open about the addiction she struggled with in the past. She says she drank to gather courage to show herself to the outside world. She also felt a bit like an outcast as a brunette in the South, where everyone else seemed to be blonde. She says she drank for the same reason she started acting: as a push to dare to show yourself. Either through alcohol or because something has to be done for the role.
3. Kristin is committed to elephants
Something I can also see Charlotte doing. She once saw a small elephant that had been abandoned by the herd and made sure it was taken to a wildlife rehabilitation center. She also produced the documentary Gardeners of Eden to raise awareness for the preservation of elephants. The main message? An elephant is killed every fifteen minutes. If we continue like this, the species will be extinct in ten years.
4. There is no man in her life
Where marrying is the highest achievable goal in life for Charlotte York, Kristin manages just fine on her own. She lives in Brentwood, LA with her adopted children.
5. Her hair almost didn't happen
When you think of Charlotte York, you immediately see that perfect hair. Yet she suffered from severe hair loss during Sex and the City. A product from Luke O’Connor helped her so much that she eventually became an ambassador for it.
6. Kristin does a lot of good work
She is an ambassador for Oxfam and works a lot for UNHCR. Charlotte would be proud of her.
