9 cheap favorites from the supermarket

Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: 10 cheap favorites from the supermarket.
We can be brief: grocery shopping at the supermarket is a hit to our wallets every time. Fortunately, there are a few editorial favorites that cost next to nothing and make us happy every time. Do you know these cheap ass delights yet?
Chocolate with hazelnuts
Instead of looking at eye level, FavorFlavs Bo often grabs products found at the bottom of the shelf, as they are much cheaper. And yes, they can also be very tasty. Like this chocolate. Bo: ‘I am an ultimate chocolate lover, not a day goes by that I don’t eat chocolate. This delicious bar costs only €0.46. Bingo!’

Instant noodles
A pack of instant noodles (for example, those from Yum Yum, €0.55 per pack) is always a good idea. They may have a reputation for being student food and hangover cure, but instant noodles are a favorite in the editorial office. They cost next to nothing and with a few nice additions you can easily turn them into a full dinner. There is quite a difference in brands and flavors, these are our favorite instant noodles.

For with drinks
Bo: ‘A cheese platter without Garlan herb cheese? Huh, how come? This herb cheese is always a hit. And no, not just after a few too many wines. Even in sober condition, this is a hit at our home and that for only €0.75 per tub.’

Donut for free
We often sing the praises of Lidl (this tiramisu, oh boy…), but this is also really an editorial favorite: for only €0.35 this delicious – we repeat: delicious – vanilla donut with glaze and vanilla filling can be yours.

Focaccia
Oven-ready focaccia for dinner, it’s not very nutritious, but still… When FavorFlavs Bo doesn’t feel like cooking, she pops a focaccia in the oven. ‘With Garlan on top, of course!’ The favorite is the oven-ready focaccia with rosemary and sea salt. Cheap ass enjoyment for €1.99!

Cottage cheese
Cottage cheese, also known as hüttenkäse: you love it or you hate it. It contains a lot of protein and is also cheap (€0.57 for a tub). For the lovers of the stuff: delicious on a cracker with some pepper on top or mixed with avocado.

Bapao
A typical case of freezer essentials: the well-known bapao. After a night out, as lunch, two pieces for dinner, or just any moment when you’re tired of life; pop a bapao (€0.89 each) in the microwave. Note to self: quickly refill the freezer.

Cheese snacks
These chips will stick to your teeth, but they are so tasty! The aftertaste is terrible and your hands too after eating cheese or peanut butter snacks, but a bag for €0.48 will definitely be empty.

Penny wafers
Penny wafers, those crispy, cheap ‘chocolate’ cookies, who doesn’t know them? Totally not hip, but oh, how delicious they are with tea or coffee. And seriously now: €0.69 for 8 wafers: thief of your own wallet if you leave that behind.
