Everything you want to know about Disney's Encanto

There's a new kid in town and I think I'm once again the last one to find out. Because pretty much the whole world is a fan of Encanto, the new Disney movie that's now available on Disney+, and I'm late to the party again. I must admit that I haven't been keeping up with Disney as much in recent years. This was mainly due to the live-action films that didn't quite (okay, not at all) capture the magic of their original versions. And now there's going to be a live-action film of The Aristocats? That can't end well with all those cats? Anyway, my cat wasn't scouted, so that's already a big downside.
Alright, I'm getting sidetracked. So, Encanto has really become a monster hit, so I thought it was high time to dive into this film with some fun facts.
1. The song We Don’t Talk About Bruno has beaten Let It Go
Uh, excuse me? Yes, really: this song is currently at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 (the American charts), while Let It Go only made it to number five. I should add a caveat, because when Let It Go was a big deal (in 2014), Spotify wasn't around yet. I suspect that Frozen would still be unbeaten otherwise.
2. A unique fact: the character of Mirabel is the very first ‘lead role’ to wear glasses
Well, it was about time, right?
3. Bruno is not visible on the movie posters
They took We Don’t Talk About Bruno quite literally.
4. Encanto is the first Disney film that fully revolves around Latinx characters
Well, that was also about time, right?
5. Because Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote We Don’t Talk About Bruno all by himself, he has also achieved something special
This century, only fourteen songs have reached number one that were written by one person — Lin-Manuel Miranda is that fourteenth.
6. Therapists are also fans of Encanto
The film is praised for the way it deals with trauma and processing, and because there is finally a Disney film with Latinx protagonists. ‘First-generation immigrants finally have a film in which they can recognize themselves and experiences from the film and the soundtrack. They also use the film Encanto to say things they otherwise couldn't.’
