These are the best carbohydrates to eat if you want to watch your weight

I find people who manage to stop eating carbohydrates so fascinating. I mean: why would you want to do that? All those delicious dishes that pass you by: such a shame. I personally can't imagine a life without them, because let's be honest: a person becomes intensely happy from carbohydrates, right? Well, not from the carbohydrates themselves of course, but from all the goodies they contain.

But why do people choose to cut them out? I believe that a common reason is weight loss. After all, you often hear that you should avoid carbohydrates if you want to lose weight. I also understand that pizzas aren't going to help you get fit, but not all carbohydrates are bad for us. In fact, there are some carbohydrates that are actually good to eat if you want to lose weight.

In other words: a life without carbohydrates is not necessary if you want to watch your weight at all. Nice, right? I've listed the best ones for you below.

1. Sweet potato
Good news: we don't have to say goodbye to fries. Sweet potatoes contain many healthy substances such as fiber, iron, magnesium, potassium, and a lot of vitamins A and C. Moreover, oven-baked sweet potato fries are just as tasty as the unhealthy fried version and much better for our health. A jar of homemade dill mayonnaise on the side and voilà: enjoy!.

2. Oatmeal
Here you can really make the tastiest breakfasts. I often eat overnight oats with cinnamon, honey, and baked apple pieces in the morning. It's like eating an apple pie for breakfast; who wouldn't want that?

3. Quinoa
With quinoa, you can whip up fantastic salads that are also very filling. Think of a fresh summer variant with strawberries, spinach, and feta mixed in. Small tip: cooking quinoa in broth gives it much more flavor.

4. Wild rice
White rice is delicious, but not the best option if you want to watch your weight. Fortunately, there is also ‘wild rice’. This is actually not rice at all, but a type of grass that grows in shallow waters. In terms of texture, it resembles rice, but it is brown in color and has a slightly nuttier taste. Wild rice is rich in minerals and contains a lot of fiber, amino acids, and proteins, making it the perfect substitute for white rice.

5. Whole grain pasta
We can also (thank god) continue to eat pasta, but then the whole grain variant. Perhaps a bit more vegetables mixed in and a little less cheese, but then pasta is just a perfectly responsible meal.

6. Lentils
Legumes are also a super source of carbohydrates, and lentils especially. Lentils contain gut-friendly fibers, help lower cholesterol levels, and are a plant-based source of iron. In short: a bowl of lentil soup now and then is really good for you. Oh yes: lentils also contain a lot of biotin, so your hair will be happy with it too.
