Love sickness makes happy

heartbreak

Whether you caused it yourself or are the instigator, heartbreak sucks. The moment you feel that click and your heart tears sometimes even literally hurts people. But all those waves of heartbreak are indeed good for something.

Have you ever had such heartbreak that you almost had to throw up from crying? Good. It's not that I wish it upon you, but it is necessary to ultimately become happier from it. Becoming happy from heartbreak sounds like something contradictory, but that's how it works. Psychologists from all over the world emphasize that sadness is a healthy emotion that we shouldn't always cancel.

Having heartbreak and giving in to it is not a quick fix for happiness, by the way, but it does ultimately make you happy faster. The moment you swallow that crying fit every time and throw yourself into piles of work or hang out night after night, your heartbreak lasts longer. When someone disappears from your life, that's a loss and you need time to mourn that a bit. And you guessed it: that's necessary to let your heartbreak disappear.

Should you then just lie in bed with a bag of chips and a bottle of wine and cry until the sheets are soaked? No! Although that is certainly allowed for an evening. If you want to approach it scientifically, it also helps to have as little contact with your ex as possible. That means: get rid of photos, don't text (not even when you're drunk), and meet each other as little as possible (so someone needs to find another local pub). Out of sight, out of mind is not for nothing such a well-known cliché that everyone throws around, because it is true.

In the meantime, do you want some fun and enjoyment? It helps to go humptydumpty with a nice newcomer in your life. You produce all kinds of happiness hormones during sex, so that's beneficial. But whatever you do, don't have sex with your ex. Scientists have just explained that it's not wise to see each other, and that also means you won't be touching each other.

Amidst all those delicious escapades, it is simply permissible to give in to your heartbreak. The more you do that, the faster you heal and the happier you ultimately are.
