A night away, even in my own city: I can recharge so much from it. During corona, I did that more (due to the lack of being able to go abroad) and that is a new ‘hobby’ that I will definitely keep. And that's why I slept this week at the Canal House, just in ‘my own’ Amsterdam. And I can tell you: highly recommended. Even if it's just for those incredibly comfortable beds. Well, that's something that always makes me very happy and, as far as I'm concerned, can make or break a hotel. And this bed absolutely ranks in my Top 3 of hotel experiences — and that made getting up quite difficult.

But besides those divine beds, the view was also not bad. The Canal House is located on the Keizersgracht, in the Jordaan. A stone's throw away from the Noordermarkt and the Nine Streets. Quite nice and for me also something different: I actually live in Zuid and come way too little in this neighborhood. So it's really nice to spend a day there. Eating at the Noordermarkt, first shopping in the Nine Streets and then in the evening to your home for the night.

By the way, don't forget to include breakfast, because it can be served in your room and breakfast in bed is really the best there is — especially if it's not in your own bed. Only downside? I didn't have time to take a bath. But that's mostly my own fault.
