weed butter tips cooking woman in the kitchen

Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: baking with weed butter.

Dry January? Bye, we only survive that if we can celebrate High February afterwards. Especially now that studies show that cannabis can prevent a corona infection. Win-win! Don't just hang out like an apathetic teenager on the couch with the curtains closed and Netflix on repeat, but dive into the kitchen and make cheerful bakes where you add weed. Good food and a relaxed feeling, where can we sign? This is how you do it.

We’ll repeat it once more: eating a slice of cake AND simultaneously preventing corona, it seems too good to be true. But still: components in cannabis can prevent the coronavirus from entering healthy cells, according to a laboratory study published in the Journal of Nature Products, reports De Telegraaf. So: weed ready, let’s bake!

Weed butter, yes please!
It sounds very simple: baking a space cake or making weed butter. But you can't just throw weed into any batter, that won't work out. A waste of your effort and a waste of your cake. With these tips from Green Goddess, an American company specializing in everything related to weed, you’ll surely succeed. Remember: be wise, not suitable for minors.

Grind fine, but not too fine
The buds need to be finely ground so that they are evenly distributed throughout your bake. But not too fine, of course. Some cooks use a coffee grinder (which you obviously won't use for coffee afterwards) or a food processor (wash it well). Grind until it looks like oregano, not finer.

Dose carefully
Are you baking with cannabis for the first time? Pay attention to your dose. It’s tempting to spice up your bakes a lot, but don’t do that, because it will be way too strong. Experts use the following rule of thumb: 0.3 grams of weed (buds) per person. So for a brownie for 8 people, you only need a few grams of weed. And it doesn’t have to be eaten all at once, right? Put it in the freezer (with a clear label, you don’t want someone to accidentally eat it).

Budget
You don’t have to use the very best weed for baking. Some people use the leftovers, the loose leaves, and whatever is still floating at the bottom of the bag. Do you know someone who grows their own weed? Maybe they have some trimming waste for you, that’s good enough.

Stir, stir, stir
You want to distribute the weed evenly through the batter, so that means stirring until your arm almost falls off. Having all the weed, the weed oil, or the weed butter in one part of your cake is a bad idea.

Chocolate works well
Weed sometimes gives a bitter taste to your bakes. Use some vanilla sugar (in the cake) or a lot of chocolate to neutralize that flavor.

Be creative
Weed brownies are well-known, space cake too, but you love cooking and baking, so you can definitely get a bit more creative. How about a weed burger, weed sriracha or a cup of weed tea?
