Why it is very important that Jaimie Vaes told her story

On Friday, April 8, she was sitting at the table with Khalid & Sophie. In the past months, perhaps even years, a lot has been written about her, but she had never shared her own story before. The media feasted on it, since the incident in Ibiza (read here everything about it there). Things went very wrong between Jaimie and her then-partner Lil Kleine. The wildest stories circulated, leaked photos were forwarded on WhatsApp, but from their side, it remained quiet at first. Until they both posted a photo on their Instagram Stories with a statement. It would all be exaggerated, the media had made wild stories that weren't true, but ‘Jorik would be a bit nicer in the future.’.
That this turned out to be a false promise became clear to all of the Netherlands recently when a video from the security camera of Jaimie and Lil Kleine's house was leaked by Life Of Yvonne. It showed Lil Kleine dragging his girlfriend out of the car and then forcefully pinning her head between the door. In Ibiza, Lil Kleine was only held for a day, but now they kept him behind bars for two weeks longer. Meanwhile, he is free and is in Thailand, to ‘work on himself.’.
Now I know that the internet can be merciless and that (unfortunately) there are many people who post comments without really thinking about it, but what I saw on the internet after this last incident I found really very intense. On TikTok, underage girls posted videos about Lil Kleine, saying they still supported him and loved him. The album he released, called Ibiza (referring to the first incident where he abused Jaimie), became a major hit. And in the meantime, there was a lot of criticism of Jaimie. She was said to be a gold digger and her cosmetic procedures were apparently reason enough to tear her whole person down.
And that is precisely why it was so important for her to sit there, with Khalid & Sophie. To finally tell her story. To inspire and motivate other women who are in the same situation. Because let's not forget: she is not in the wrong here. No, that is Lil Kleine, who is still raking in millions with all his streams (last year a whopping 227 million streams on Spotify). That her career counts heavily (and not that of a so-called ‘gold digger’) was also evident from Jaimie's story: their management NAMAM allegedly pushed the former couple to post a statement on Instagram. Something Jaimie did not support (and that is also clearly visible in her body language) and even worse: she had to declare that it was not true.
She broke with the management, broke up with Lil Kleine in the last months, and is now finally ready to choose for herself. Although the misery is not over yet: Jaimie has filed a complaint, so there will be a criminal investigation. In addition, her lawyer stated that many financial matters need to be settled between the two. But for now, she is going to take her rest in Spain and recover from the past years.
I found her so strong at the table with Khalid & Sophie, so brave, you have to dare to do it. Jaimie indicated during her conversation that she hates the word ‘victim’ and that she does not feel that way. Jaimie, I do not see you as a victim but as a very brave, beautiful, and strong woman. May you inspire many women with this appearance.
