Could it be early spring 2023?

This is the coolest collection from NYFW

new york fashion week Ulla Johnson

I’ll just start with a warning: I am subjective. Always, but especially when it comes to this subject. Look in my closet and you’ll see a lot, but especially a lot of Ulla Johnson. Ulla is for me the American Isabel Marant and, no matter how much I love the Parisienne, she has even knocked her off the top spot. It’s feminine, edgy, a touch tribal, always exuberant and usually with an unexpected twist. Wallflowers and background lovers may be less inclined towards her eclectic collections, but if you love life and don’t mind that people are still talking about that dress you wore at that party two days later, then Ulla is the right place for you.

During this New York Fashion Week, she showcased her collection at Brooklyn's Beaux-Arts Court museum (Fashion Week is also expanding towards Brooklyn). She also presented a number of dresses that beg for a red carpet appearance and delicious vests for those in-between seasons. We saw a hand-knitted sweater dress, a crocheted dress made in Guatemala, and an embroidered denim jacket made in LA, where a group of people works with classic sewing machines. ‘I want to give work back to the people who have had a tough time.’ If there is a waiting list for her complete SS collection, I would like to sign up now. I’ll make room in my closet.
