Warning: here’s what to watch out for when using dating apps

Online dating: I found it really anything but romantic, and that's why I recently wrote an article about the negative effects it can have on our health. I wrote a whole plea, with a final call to all singles to clean up their phones and go out into the ‘real’ world. to go.
Well, I really need to come back to that. Yes, yes, I admit it: I was wrong and was a bit too quick with my judgment. There are indeed enough success stories going around about dating apps, including in my own friend group, so much so that I can hardly deny that it doesn't work at all. Not that you were waiting for my permission, but still: I give it. They can stay on your phone.
And because I obviously only wish you the best, I have listed a number of red flags below that you can pay attention to when you use dating apps. Does your match not check off the points below? Then that first date can be scheduled just fine.
1. Your match behaves more like a pen pal
That means: he/she prefers to chat with you all day long about everything and anything, but never brings up a real meeting. Well, the chance is big that you're not on Tinder for a pen pal. So if you’re not asked out within 72 hours but he/she is still chatting your ear off? Then unfortunately, it's game over.
2. He/she avoids a date
It's 2022, so we don't need to be so principled about who takes the first step. But if you take the initiative and your match completely ignores this or keeps making excuses, then it's time to ask yourself if this isn't a waste of your time. Someone who doesn't want to make time for you is simply not worth it.
3. There’s nothing written on his/her profile
A lack of information on someone's profile is a potential red flag. Besides photos, it's nice to know what your match is interested in and what occupies him/her. Not wanting to give anything away about yourself is quite strange if you're looking for a date. After all, you should put in a little effort, and how much work is it to put a few things about yourself in your profile? Okay, you don't have to write someone off immediately, but maybe you can ask why he/she shares so little information.
4. You are asked out immediately
Don't get me wrong: it's a good sign if you're asked out, but having a short conversation first is nice. If someone shows no interest at all and immediately aims for a date, it could be that this person is only after sex. Of course, it's nice not to beat around the bush, but maybe it's a good idea to first feel the vibe. Ultimately, following your own feelings is the most important.
5. Life quotes
‘Be ambitious’, ’Not all those who wander are lost’, ‘Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift’, ‘Stop taking life too seriously’ and so on. They may all seem like very innocent statements, but ask yourself if you can really relate to such quasi-profound quotes.
