Tina Turner lays your star egg
Mirazur, Menton, France

The best chef in France comes from Argentina. And if you think that's strange, you should try dining at his restaurant Mirazur on the French Riviera. The eggs on the menu come from his own chickens; his very best laying hen is named Tina Turner. A poem by Neruda is served with the bread. Chef Colagreco grows his own oranges and lemons because he couldn't find the quality he was looking for anywhere else. Mirazur has three Michelin stars and is ranked number one on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list.

Surprise menu from the own vegetable garden (caviar costs extra)
The French Laundry – California, USA

Started as a saloon in Yountville, California, today The French Laundry is a legendary Michelin-starred restaurant led by chef Thomas Keller. A menu costs 310 dollars per person, but for that money, you can enjoy a surprise menu consisting of eight courses, and most ingredients are as local as possible. Craving truffles? A bit of caviar? Of course, but then you have to pay a surcharge.

Sustainable dining in the jungle
Hartwood, Tulum, Mexico

The couple Eric Werner and Mya Henry sold everything in New York and moved to Tulum in Mexico, where they built a one hundred percent sustainable restaurant in the jungle. There is a wood oven and solar panels on the roof. The menu (which changes daily) is based on what is available at the market. Reserving a table is quite a hassle; you have the best chance of getting one of the fifty spots if you stand in line at the restaurant in the afternoon and have your name noted for that same evening, because this organic couple doesn't do reservations. Couldn't snag a table? With this recipe, you can make Hartwood's shrimp at home.

Traditionally Peruvian, but modern
Astrid Y Gastón, Lima, Peru

The success of the restaurant chain Astrid Y Gastón all started in Peru when law student Gastón traded a career as a lawyer for a life in the kitchen. The restaurant focuses on traditional Peruvian cuisine in a modern guise. It has now become a chain of top restaurants, with locations in places like Madrid and Chicago. The best restaurant in Latin America, without a doubt.

Dark and light in a South African top restaurant
The Test Kitchen, Cape Town, South Africa

Chef Luke Dale Roberts wasn't interested in school and cooked his way around the world, with jobs in restaurant kitchens in Japan, Bali, England, and South Korea. That work experience and the dishes he has tasted everywhere now come to the plate in his restaurant The Test Kitchen. The restaurant is divided into a dark and a light section. In the dark section, cocktails are served, while in the light section, mainly local ingredients and dishes are served. If you can't reserve at The Test Kitchen, try The Potluck Club, a shared dining concept by the same chef.
