This is the reason why you are always hungry

Often I blame my period when I'm snacking all day long. It doesn't matter how much I eat on such days; it seems like nothing can really fill me up. Sandwiches, M&M's, cookies, gummy candy; everything disappears into that stomach. Even after a good dinner, I'm still not satisfied and I must and will eat another sweet pastry. And then something savory again, followed by something sweet again, and so on. Well, I just keep eating until I feel nauseous. Not really ideal, of course.

Is this scenario recognizable? Apparently, there is a very simple explanation for these hungry spells that seem to have no end. Your body regularly confuses the difference between hunger and thirst. How come? The symptoms are almost the same according to scientists. So it could very well be that at certain moments you are not hungry at all, but just thirsty.

But how do you know if you are hungry or thirsty, because with both hunger and thirst you can experience symptoms like headaches, dizziness, a dehydrated feeling, and heavy irritation. So it’s difficult to distinguish. However, there is one important difference: hunger can be recognized by the fact that it comes on slowly and not suddenly. So try to pay attention to this in the future and check if you have drunk enough on the relevant day.

So before you reach for those snacks in your pantry again next time, you might as well drink a glass of water first. Your body is probably just dehydrated and mainly needs moisture instead of extra food. Additionally, water can also be quite filling, which reduces the urge for snacks. Conclusion: stay hydrated.
