Recipe: the best toastie you will ever make

Job & Perry, the chefs and TV cooks you may have seen on 24Kitchen, recently launched their first ‘jerk-proof’ cookbook. With recipes that are as simple as possible and with not many ingredients. Just, easy for everyone to make. All you have to do is occasionally go to the store (fun outing!) and that’s it. And this toast? This is the best toast of all time!
Ingredients
– 1 round Turkish bread (lavas)
– 6 tablespoons mayo
– 3 tablespoons super spicy fine mustard
– 8 slices of aged cheese
– 6 thick slices of fricandeau
– 1 jar of pickles, sliced
– 8 slices of Emmental
– 6 nice slices of ham
– salt and pepper
– More needed: baking paper (optional)

How to make the best toast of all time
- Cut the bread in half crosswise with a bread knife.
- Mix half of the mayo with the mustard and spread it on the inside of the bread.
- Top one half with the slices of aged cheese, fricandeau, pickle slices, Emmental, and the ham. Place the other half on top and spread the outside with the rest of the mayo. By spreading the outside with mayo instead of butter, the toast tastes extremely good and gets a nice color. This technique has been borrowed from America and is used in roadside restaurants, diners, and lunchrooms. Guaranteed to work.
- Place the toast in a large frying pan (this should fit perfectly) and let the pan heat up. Place a heavy pan on top, with or without baking paper, to press the toast flat, making it a bit more compact and baking it evenly. Keep a close eye on the temperature and make sure the toast doesn’t burn. When the bottom is crispy, flip it over and let the other side bake gently. Expect about 4 minutes per side.
- Cut into wedges and devour like crazy!
