Let's get acquainted: the participants of the Dutch Married At First Sight

Yay, RTL has finally listened to us. We are massively hooked on Married At First Sight Australia and let the Dutch version pass us by. Why is that? I think it's because of the dinner parties and the drama among the participants. That's not present in the Dutch edition: those married couples have nothing to do with each other. At least, until now. YES: we are actually getting our ‘own’ edition of the Australian format. Married At First Sight – Match Or Mistake is what it's going to be called and I fear that especially the latter will be the case. But well, the wait is officially almost over because the candidates have just been announced. Let's get acquainted?

A total of fourteen singles are participating who, according to RTL, are ‘matched through science’. Unfortunately, I have a bit of a hard time believing that not all people are participating purely for the Instagram fame, but we will see. Even if we have one Dutch Jules and Cam among them, I will already be happy.

The women

Anita
This 28-year-old comes from Assen, is adventurous and sporty, and loves socializing. In a man, she looks for humor, but also a buddy. Complaining men are a no-go.

Deveny
Deveny is 26, loves shopping, dining out, and traveling. No idea what she does in daily life to afford this, but she is looking for a partner who is ready to work on a future together.

Evelien
The 32-year-old Evelien is looking for a man with whom she can have fun, but also dive deep. She describes herself as spontaneous and enthusiastic and likes to think in solutions.

Kendall
Arrogant men are the ultimate turn-off for this 32-year-old. A sweet, warm man is what she is looking for. She is honest and independent and can be a real homebody.

Laury
This 30-year-old works as a yoga and breathing instructor and is very focused on her nutrition and exercise. She loves nature and claims to never argue. Therefore, she is looking for a man who is also calm and kind, but one who stands strong in his shoes.

Roxy
The 29-year-old Roxy finds it attractive when a man takes the initiative and is reliable. She often goes out with friends for a drink; she loves socializing.

Yvette
Yvette is 41, has her own business, and is ready for love. She loves socializing but can also be good alone. Her dream man is cheerful, a ‘carpe diem’ type with ambition.

The men

Alwin
According to himself, the 30-year-old Alwin is adventurous and sporty. He is looking for a woman with ambition who loves to exercise and who is not shy.

Brian
He describes himself as a real family man and as a sensitive person with his heart in the right place. This 32-year-old is looking for honesty and trust in his ideal woman.

Feyyaz
This 33-year-old also describes himself as a family man. In addition, he can be found in the gym six times a week and is often busy with his little boy. Mutual respect is the most important thing to him in a relationship.

Jesse
This 26-year-old loves to party and is also often found in the gym. He is looking for an adventurous type who is also very social.

Mark
This 46-year-old is an enthusiastic and enterprising type. Due to his age, there is of course no doubt that he will be matched with Yvette: curious to see if they will click.

Rizwan
Rizwan is 28 and does not shy away from any challenge. He loves walks through the dunes and wants a relationship that revolves around trust, honesty, and good communication.

Toychyro
31 years old, loves fitness, American football, and basketball. Can be perfectly fine on his own, but prefers to have someone by his side. That would have to be an intelligent, ambitious, and sporty woman.

Okay, first impressions? On the one hand, I'm glad the youngest was 26 and not even younger, because they are not exactly focused on getting married, I guess. But still, I am disappointed that there are a lot of gym types among them (nothing wrong with that, though) and not many average people. Where is the gamer who mostly sits in his room but also wants a nice relationship? The standard size 42 for women (because that is currently the standard size in the Netherlands)? The retirees? An LGBTQI+ couple?

Well, it is of course only the first season. We still have to wait a little longer, because from August 22, Married At First Sight – Match Or Mistake will be available on Videoland from Monday to Wednesday, and the first episodes will also be shown on RTL 4 on those dates. CAN'T WAIT.
