Why we all want this safety device on our keychain

Is it all becoming more and more? Or has the world become smaller and are we simply getting much more information through everything that comes at us online? I am definitely much more alert

Okay, maybe you have already seen this, just like I did on social media. The EVA Jet Black, this is a small personal safety alarm that you can just hang on your keychain. And the idea is simple: if you feel unsafe at any moment, you just have to pull the pin once.

What is EVA Jet Black?

EVA stands for Emergency Virtual Assistant and is a compact safety device with various functions. And the most important thing: when you activate EVA, a personal alarm of 130 dB off.

With EVA, the principle is very simple: just pull.

The 130 dB alarm sounds immediately. This is precisely intended to attract the attention of people in the vicinity and interrupt a situation where you do not feel safe. According to the creators of EVA, the alarm is even audible from across a street, platform, or parking lot.

The alarm can sound for a maximum of two hours.

Your phone can automatically call for help

And this is where EVA becomes interesting compared to a traditional personal alarm.

Because, when EVA is connected to your phone via Bluetooth, the device instructs your phone to call the local emergency number after ten seconds. This happens without you having to unlock your phone or dial a number yourself.

At the same time, the emergency contacts you have chosen receive a text message with a live location link. That location continues to update according to EVA until you are safe.

So you don't have to first call someone and explain where you are. The people you trust are automatically alerted.

Does EVA work without a phone?

Yes. And that is also really good to know.

The 130 dB alarm and the built-in flashlight work completely independently. You do not need a phone, app, or mobile signal for that.

For the extra functions, such as automatically calling for help and sharing your live location, you do need a connected phone.

You charge the battery via USB-C. According to EVA, a full charge lasts several weeks with daily use.

A personal alarm for on the go

EVA is actually mainly intended for everyday situations where you would like to have some extra security with you.

So think, for example, about walking home alone after dinner, waiting for a late train, running sessions, traveling alone, or walking to your car.

And especially now that the days are slowly getting shorter again, the idea is actually quite pleasant: you don't suddenly have to live differently or think about everything. You just have a small personal safety alarm on your keychain.

And this can also be very interesting for parents. Everyone can easily take EVA with them. Better safe than sorry.

There is also a flashlight included

In addition to the safety alarm, EVA has a built-in flashlight.

And the device is waterproof and rain-resistant.

Can you accidentally activate EVA?

Yes, that could be something typical for me, but fortunately, EVA is designed so that a simple touch is not enough to activate the alarm. You really have to perform a conscious press-and-hold action to turn the device on.

If you accidentally activate the alarm, you can also cancel it within a few seconds.

So no panic if you accidentally pull it out of your bag.

Who can see your location?

Only the emergency contacts you choose yourself. By the way, I do share my location with my partner, we find it handy.

EVA does not continuously track your location in the background. Your location is only shared when you activate a location share or alarm notification yourself.

So you have the option to quickly share your location without anyone being able to follow you all day long.

The EVA app is coming soon

It is not available yet, but it is coming. The release is scheduled for the end of this year.

With the app, you can manage your emergency contacts and use extra safety features. The device itself continues to function for the alarm and the flashlight, even without the app.

Feeling safe without constantly thinking about safety

It is small, discreet, and designed to simply become part of your daily belongings. You also don't have to think about it every time you leave the house.

But when you walk home alone one evening and it suddenly feels a lot quieter or just more sinister than you would like, you know you have something with you that can activate a loud alarm with one movement.

And of course, we all hope that we never need it.
