RECIPE: INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS ITALIAN SANDWICHES

Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: recipe: incredibly delicious Italian sandwiches.
Dear Italy, are you holding up a bit in this difficult time? We miss you so much and we are thinking of you. And to emphasize that, we are going to make a very thick sandwich with all the goodies you give us. XOXO, FavorFlav
INGREDIENTS
3 tablespoons olive oil
4 slices of sturdy white bread
3 anchovy fillets in oil, very finely chopped
1 ball of mozzarella
2 tablespoons pesto
2 marinated artichoke hearts, drained and sliced thinly
2 slices of mortadella, thinly sliced
This sandwich is filled with Italian top products like mozzarella, pesto and (invaluable) mortadella, and while you stand behind your frying pan and then gaze through your oven window, you can daydream about visions of rolling hills, burning sun or snowy mountain tops, aperitifs, pasta and wine, and hope that we can go there again soon. Get the best quality of these ingredients that you can afford, then you will come closest to the true Italy feeling, we think.

Here's how to make the Italian sandwiches
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
- Heat half of the olive oil in a large frying pan over medium heat.
- Place the bread in the pan and fry for about three minutes until golden brown on one side while moving it a bit back and forth.
- Flip the bread over, add the rest of the oil and fry this side until golden brown as well.
- Place the bread on a cutting board.
- Spread 2 of the 4 slices with the finely chopped anchovies, distribute the mozzarella over it, then the pesto, artichokes, and mortadella.
- Place the other slices of bread on top, press down gently and place them on a baking sheet.
- Put in the hot oven for about 5 minutes until the cheese is melted and then serve immediately.
- Wipe away a tear for Italy, but enjoy this sandwich.
