Ingredients

- 1 round bread
- 100 g bacon
- 200 g brie
- 1 red onion
- 125 g green pesto
- 150 g grated cheese (Comté, cheddar, or Parmesan)
- Olive oil
- Coarse sea salt
- Freshly ground black pepper

Ramon: ‘This party bread is very simple to make because you don't have to knead any dough. You make the party bread from a ready-made bread. You cut the bread crosswise, creating grooves in the bread that you can fill with whatever you like. You can endlessly vary; think of different types of cheese, cold cuts, roasted vegetables, and fresh herbs. The only thing that really must not be missing is cheese, because it makes this party bread deliciously creamy.’

Here's how to make the party bread with brie, pesto, bacon, and red onion

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  2. Make cuts in the bread with a sharp serrated knife that run parallel 2 centimeters apart. Do not cut all the way through the bread but stop just above the bottom. Turn the bread a quarter turn and cut the bread again every 2 centimeters so that the bread is cross-cut.
  3. Cut the bacon slices in half lengthwise and push them into the grooves between the bread. Cut the brie into slices and also push the slices into the grooves between the bread. Cut the onion into rings and distribute the onion rings over the bread.
  4. Spoon a teaspoon of pesto here and there into the grooves. Do the same with the grated cheese.

Tip: For this recipe, buy a round bread and choose the type of bread yourself: white, brown, whole grain, or with seeds and nuts. Do not bake the bread at too high a temperature or for too long. The goal is for the cheese to melt; the bread is already cooked.
