‘In 2018, there were already reports of sexual misconduct at The Voice’

John de Mol is under fire again, and not with the least accusation. He stated in the program BOOS that he knew nothing of any sexual misconduct within The Voice — that he only heard about it in 2019. He was very adamant about this during his conversation with Tim Hofman. But according to lawyer Sébas Diekstra, the reality is quite different, he told NU.nl.
Diekstra told the news site that a woman claimed to have reported sexual misconduct behind the scenes at The Voice of Holland as early as 2018. And that, when she made that report, she received a rather remarkable response, namely that she was ‘the umpteenth in two years’ to come forward with a complaint of this nature. Quite remarkable, considering John de Mol really swore on BOOS that he knew nothing. But according to Diekstra, that is not true: ‘The press release stating that ITV knew nothing is therefore incorrect.’
Diekstra does not want to say who the report from this woman was about; the only thing he could say is that the complaint was filed with someone from the production at Talpa, John de Mol's company.
Meanwhile, there are six reports of sexual misconduct at The Voice filed with the police. These reports are against Rietbergen, Ali B, and Martijn N., who was the director of the program. The Public Prosecution Service has already indicated that the investigation will take ‘considerable time’, after which it will be decided whether there is enough evidence against the suspects to prosecute them.
