today we dine soft wine days

So it can still happen: even though I've been coming to Amsterdam my whole life, I can still discover new places where it's very pleasant to be in terms of food and drink. And in that category, I have a really nice tip for you. You might already know the location — I certainly do, but I had never been there before — but there is a special reason why you want to go there this month: Hotel The Grand Amsterdam.

If you know this location, you know: this is a beautiful place. And maybe you also know that it's the place where you can find restaurant Bridges. Last Saturday, I had an incredibly delicious lunch there because of the Sofitel Wine Days. I had made good preparations (little breakfast, because of four courses), good company, but above all, delicious wines.

The Sofitel Wine Days is an annual event at The Grand, which you can still enjoy throughout the month of October. This year, the theme is Dutch wines. I found it fun and surprising, because I usually don't choose Dutch wine from the menu. Completely unjustified, as it turned out, because I haven't had such delicious wines in ages. Sommelier Roos Stevens not only told us about it in a very nice way, but I genuinely learned a lot about how Dutch wine is made.

That's why I intentionally included the wine in every photo, because I want to bring them home myself. Our favorite was definitely the Sint Catharinadal, which is made in a vineyard near Oosterhout — at a monastery. So delicious.

And the food? Well, I can be brief about that. Pure enjoyment. With a capital G. Extra appreciation for the kitchen since they had to take my allergies into account (allergic to shellfish and all fish) and they really served up little works of art.

The Sofitel Wine Days can still be booked until October 31, so believe me: this is a recommendation.
