Not done: rinsing your plates before they go into the dishwasher

Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: rinsing your plates before they go in the dishwasher
Do you hate loading the dishwasher and especially rinsing the plates first? Then we have good news: you no longer have to rinse those plates.
I have never understood why you would rinse everything clean before putting it in the dishwasher. Isn't that the whole point of having a dishwasher? Well, it turns out you don't have to rinse the dirty dishes beforehand at all.
Useless
Because if you do, the dishwasher can't do its job. Dishwasher detergent contains enzymes that attach to food residues. So if you rinse your plate first, there is little for the enzymes to do, and they will just disappear down the drain without actually cleaning anything.
One less chore
Moreover, a study by Consumer Reports shows that dishes that have been rinsed first are not cleaner than dishes that you put directly in the machine. So next time, you can just leave that mayo and pasta sauce on your plate. That's one less chore.
