Yesss, finally: the hospitality industry is back in business. I still find it such a bizarre thing that for almost two years eating in a restaurant, having a drink somewhere, or going out was not a given. An intense absence that I am now trying to process with quite a few visits to restaurants because nothing makes my imaginary tail wag harder than good company, food, and a nice drink.
Now I often find myself in my favorite city Rotterdam for this hobby and yes: there’s a new kid in town. And not just any hotspot, Cannibale Royale (which already has 5 locations in Amsterdam) has opened its doors in one of the most famous and urban spots in the city center, namely the Skatepark on Westblaak. I’ve already heard whispers from Amsterdam that the bavette, the fries, and the crispy garlic broccoli are incredibly delicious. But first, tasting and then believing of course.
For a place known for their burgers and steaks, they have surprisingly many options for the vegetarians among us, such as the wide selection of veggie burgers, the cauliflower steak, or the nachos. My favorites? Those would be the bavette and the spare ribs. A red wine on the side, a cocktail for dessert, and I’m a happy person.
So if you’re looking for a new spot for lunch, a nice dinner, a snack while going out, or to take that cutie you just met at the bar for a late-night dinner, make sure to save this tip. The restaurant has a permit to keep the doors open until the late hours. Anyway, Westblaak 86 then.
