Looking for sports motivation and healthy recipes? Meet Kiek

Out of sight but not out of mind: our Kiek will always be an Amayzer. And so we follow her closely in her new adventures and got to know Getting to know Kiek. This week she launched her brand new project, in which she can give you that little bit of motivation you need in six days. To start exercising, eat healthier, feel better in your body; Kiek helps you.
And she can do that, because she was once in your shoes. She lost fourteen kilos and managed to keep those kilos off. An absolute expert by experience. We asked her to share her story.
Kieks, a new project, wow. The energy radiates from it. You’ve got your mojo back. At what moment did you get this idea?
‘Secretly, I had been walking around with the idea of helping others for a while, but in May 2021 I knew: this is my mission. If even I, as a smoking Bon vivant, can turn my life around, anyone can.’
When you drop three clothing sizes, people do wonder: how do you do that? Is there a quick answer to that?
‘I think we often look in the wrong place. The ‘quick-fix place’. At least, I did and started a new diet every Monday. A quick juice cleanse, an apple day, a crash diet… I started over and over again, but kept hitting a wall. I stopped after a hell week of ‘Salad & Soup’ because it was terribly boring. No one can sustain that, right? By now I know: it’s the mindshift that leads to long-term results. The time feels ripe to share what has worked for me, hoping that others might recognize themselves in this. I know how motivating it is to have someone who encourages you.’
Tell me, tell me, tell me. I read about podcasts, inspiring sessions, and videos. What does your weight loss plan look like?
‘I see it more as a challenge to step out of your comfort zone. ‘Getting to know Kiek’ is an Instagram course that runs for six days. We start at the beginning: you become aware of your current eating and exercise patterns. I share in various ways my biggest eye-openers that have truly changed me and I sprinkle a shitload of motivation, so that by the end of the course you feel like moving and eating in a way that suits you.’
You are not a dietitian and losing weight properly is a serious matter. How do you ensure that everyone is in safe hands?
‘By first keeping expectations realistic. This is not a weight loss course, rather a motivation course. I see myself as the lighter that sparks the flame to help you find your own little flame again. Everything you seek, you find within yourself. And that’s also the good news: you hold the key to your own dream life entirely in your hands. Therefore, I see my course more as a process that starts from within. A healthy body will naturally be the result when you start working on self-love, positivity, and stepping out of your comfort zone from the inside.’
Oprah Winfrey and Adele (to name a few) received a lot of criticism from loyal fans when they lost a lot of weight. Fans felt betrayed. Do you recognize this?
‘Not at all. And thankfully! I am so grateful for the lovely group of followers who have been traveling with me for years. What you radiate, you attract. And: if there are people who suddenly like you less because you’re feeling good in your skin, then those are not your people and that’s perfectly fine. I have always looked at Adele and Oprah with great admiration and how they use their reach and talent to help others.’
We visualize Christmas 2022: you’re sitting on the couch with a glass of wine juice and looking back on this year. What are you most satisfied with?
‘That I’m still sitting with that glass of wine on the couch, because I know it doesn’t have to be either-or in this life. Both feeling good and wine. And that I have done everything with heart and soul this year to help people towards that awareness.’
