These are the most commonly used excuses to snack

Many of the Today We’s you see passing by are about sweet baked goods, bakeries, cake shops, and more that has to do with sugar. I can say with certainty that I am addicted to sugar. It just makes me so intensely happy and I rarely feel regret afterwards. Of course, I have also made many attempts to cut back, mainly because I often feel tired and the link to sugar is easy to make. But I still haven't succeeded, and that's because I always come up with something so that I can still sneak in that one cookie. With excuses like ‘I'm going to exercise today anyway’ or ‘it's Sunday’ I forgive myself within seconds.
Research it turns out that I am not the only one who uses this kind of excuses to indulge. Panelwizard researched the candy and excuse behavior of the Dutch and compiled a top five of the most used excuses:
1. One candy more or less doesn't matter. (57%)
I admit that I use this one very often. And then in combination with: ‘It's just a tiny candy.’ As if there are suddenly fewer calories in it.
2. This candy is good for me, it soothes the throat or it gives fresh breath. (55%)
I've often heard myself say this after finishing an entire strip of Strepsils in strawberry flavor, without having any trouble with my throat at all.
3. It's the weekend, so it's allowed. (52%)
Especially if it's Sunday.
4. Oh, this is just a small candy. (45%)
There it is! I really thought I was being original with this excuse.
5. I ate very healthy today. (41%)
Balance is key, right?
Besides the above excuses, I also often use these gems:
1. I'm on my period, so it's allowed.
2. Licorice works super well against low blood pressure.
3. Starting Monday, I'm going to eat healthy again.
4. I've already ruined it with that piece of cake.
5. These candies are sugar-free, you know.
6. I really need that sugar rush.
7. I'm heartbroken.
