The Traitors: Discussing episode 1

the traitors

What a delightful weekend this was. Normally, I suffer from severe FOMO when I stay home for an evening, but this weekend I genuinely looked forward to it. Okay, it was Saturday instead of Friday, but with the prospect that De Verraders could be watched online, I lay back wonderfully relaxed and content on the bench.

Yes, I'm looking forward to it again this season. And there are fun people participating (always a plus): Jamie. Giel. Irene. Stefano. Babette; actually only people I'm really looking forward to. A group where I'm especially curious about who will clash mega with each other and who will distrust everything and everyone. And that distrust actually worked quite well during the first episode.

1. #durftevragen: what do you actually do with 40 kilos of silver? Seems really heavy to lift too. Okay, you can probably sell it, but I find it all quite a hassle, you know.

2. Wait a minute, this first task on the train is actually really very simple, right? You know which compartment you're in, and if your name isn't mentioned with the other, then you just go to the remaining compartment?

3. Or maybe I'm seeing it wrong. I never understood all those math problems with thirty oranges and five watermelons either, that you suddenly have to calculate how much one banana costs.

4. Miiii gado, it seems really so impossible to keep my eyes closed. Everything in my body would scream to open them. Are you immediately disqualified then?

5. Okay, okay, okay: Stefano as a traitor. Am I the only one who is medium enthusiastic about this? He's such a peculiar bird that he (I fear) will immediately make himself suspicious.

6. I'm extremely enthusiastic about the fact that Jamie is a traitor, because the longer he stays in, the better of course. Although I'm curious about his acting skills.

7. HAHA. Those eyes of Stefano. Pressing. Intense. If this becomes his look for the rest of the season, then he'll be caught red-handed.

8. Everyone: ‘He suddenly became quieter than usual, he had a bit of a tight mouth, quite suspicious.’ Stefano: *literally moves every muscle in his entire face including sweaty little hands* ‘Me? Traitor? No way, man.’

9. What a delightful game this is. Everyone also makes themselves suspicious. What is Irene doing with her fellow candidates? She might as well write Traitor with a capital T on her forehead.

10. The Loyal ones don't know that Stefano is a Traitor, but we do, and then it's really hard to miss, right? Hahaaa. He looks so nervous. That sweat is non-stop pouring down.

11. Voting Stella out because you don't want to appear in her book about De Verraders I honestly think is quite a legitimate reason.

12. Oh no, Jamie, what are you doing? Don't improvise. This is going completely wrong. Don't ramble about different courses and when you should talk. You just shouldn't talk now. Quiet. QUIET.

13. Wait a minute, what's happening here? ‘Grass and sperm’? ‘You say my name when I pipe you’? What program does Stella think she's participating in? Can someone interrupt this à la Kanye? Imma let you finish, but you're currently in De Verraders on RTL 4 and kids are watching. Something like that?

14. Babette's thought is all of us right now. Whose sperm? We're just sitting through this speech too. I don't understand a thing.

15. Another #durftevragen: do these kinds of ‘poems’ really fall under literary work or can I also write a vague story about, for example, hay and squirting and then call myself a poet?

16. Sylvia is immediately the number one suspect. ‘I immediately feel that hand on my shoulder again.’ Yeah, there you go, Syl. You can't afford mistakes in De Verraders.

17. Do all those people really think that Stella is a Traitor or are they just confused and/or traumatized by the sperm poem?

18. Jamie: ‘F*ck you, are you really going to do this? If you're really going to do this, I'll kill you tonight. I'll throw you out tonight.’ HAHA. That surely won't go unnoticed if Babette gets kicked out right after the first attack.

19. I really hope my gut feeling is wrong and that we'll see a very much alive Loyal Giel appear on Saturday. You guys aren't going to pull a fast one on me by having one of my favorites get eliminated in the first episode, right?

20. My goodness, what a thrilling program this is.
