People say: ‘These things shine in mediocrity’

As someone who has gone through her high school years (and, okay, also her student years) purely based on a culture of mediocrity, this question on Reddit immediately resonated with me. This time not a hugely serious question, but definitely a very relatable one: ‘Wat is noch verschrikkelijk noch geweldig, maar perfect gemiddeld?’ I found it a fun question, especially because it sounds quite simple, but I couldn't really think of anything myself. Except for those thousands of tests where I indeed scored a six. Just fine. You're not disappointed, not proud, it's just okay and you move on. I'm very curious if you all have any fun additions as well. I've at least compiled the best ones from Reddit.
1. ‘Arriving late at a barbecue, but still at a time when there is more than enough food left. The food might not be very hot anymore, but that's actually good; it's at the perfect temperature to eat.’
2. ‘Accidentally putting a bit too little toothpaste on your toothbrush, less than you normally do.’
3. ‘Public benches. They never sit well, but they're always just fine.’
4. ‘A can of cola just a bit colder than room temperature.’
5. ‘I just had a cooking class and we had to make a potato leek soup. It is honestly the most mediocre dish I have ever eaten. Not that it was tasteless and it turned out just fine, but this is the most this recipe could ever be.’
6. ‘Wednesday.’
7. ‘The store brand chips from the supermarket.’
8. ‘A spring or autumn day when you can't decide whether to wear long or short pants, but whatever you choose, you're always just a bit too cold or just a bit too warm.’
9. ‘For me, that's number 6. Don't ask me why.’
10. ‘Drinking water when you're not really thirsty.’
11. ‘The color taupe.’
12. ’90 percent of romantic comedies. You find them fine while watching and then think afterwards: that was okay. Then you never watch them again and forget they exist.’
13. ‘The sex you've had with most of your bed partners.’
14. ‘The name Joe.’
15. ‘Soup from a can.’
