TikTok beauty trend spotted: purple blush from Fenty
TikTok is no longer just the platform where teenagers dance to the latest hits. It is a treasure trove of all kinds of life hacks: from recipes (think: feta pasta), tech tips, cleaning tricks to brand new inventions in the beauty world. A new product on the market? TikTok can literally make or break it, and once you go viral, it's a global success and sold out everywhere. From frozen beauty blenders to socks in your hair; you can’t think of anything too crazy. Is it worth the hype or a waste of your money? Today: the purple blush.
Fenty, Rihanna's beauty brand, surprisingly launched a purple blush in October. Not pink, peach, or any other shade, no, deep dark purple. I know that purple eyeshadow looks very nice with brown but also with blue eyes, as it accentuates your eye color beautifully. On the cheeks, I find it a bit tricky, as it shouldn't look like a bruise. According to TikTok, it suits every skin tone, but if you have a yellow undertone or a dark skin, then you are completely fine with this dark shade of purple. Nudestix always had a purple shade in the collection, ‘Moodie Blu’, but that wasn't exactly a bestseller until this color went viral on TikTok. It is a cream-like stick that is super pigmented, so when you start working with it, be very careful. Just check makeup artist Nikki de Roest: she shows exactly how quickly it can also go ‘wrong’. Building it up slowly is the tip, but are we now convinced of a purple blush? If it’s up to makeup artists and celebs, this is a keeper and will become a staple color in the collection. The only thing to watch out for is which shade of purple you use. Do you have a light skin? Then use a lavender-like, soft shade of purple. Is your skin dark, then you can look for a nice plum-like purple color. I still need to get used to it, but I will definitely try it. What about you?
