These 3 food hacks you want to try

Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: 3 x super good flavor hacks to try right away.
There are truly countless cooking hacks out there that promise to elevate your dishes; simple alternatives or additions or methods that would make everything just a bit tastier. Some sound logical, others a bit more far-fetched, but a number are really worth trying.
And sometimes you come across something again that you already know isn't for you. A grilled cheese sandwich smeared with mayonnaise on the outside before you bake it so it gets even crispier brown? Been there, done that, not impressed. Hot mayo, who wants that taste? But these tips do make me curious.
Soy sauce with the popcorn butter
When I make popcorn at home, I add all sorts of flavorings to the melted butter (to drizzle on top): furikake is one of my favorites, and a little sprinkle of smoked paprika, a tiny bit of onion powder, and salt is also great. I'm definitely going to try this; why didn't I think of this earlier? The deliciousness umami of soy sauce combined with creamy melted butter: yum.
Coffee in the brownie batter
A small splash of coffee adds depth to the already great flavor of chocolate. If you start with a little bit, you don't have to worry about it being overpowering, then you can always use more in the next batch.
Mustard in the mac ’n cheese
Mac ’n cheese might be hard to ruin (you can leave out the raisins if you make it for me), but it's quite easy to make it even tastier. The basic recipe for mac ‘n’ cheese is simple, but feel free to add flavorings, like paprika (there it is again) and also: mustard. A bit of sharp mustard definitely adds a nice kick to cut through those rich, full flavors that can sometimes make the dish heavy.
