Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: be careful: this food will give you pimples, puffiness and flakes.

Pimples, shiny forehead, itchy spots or bags under your eyes? Could be down to your food, according to a scientific study. Lots of sugar and fat are not good for your gut, and therefore for your skin.

The secret to healthy, glowing skin could just be in your food, according to scientists at the University of California. Or rather: the food that the bacteria in your gut see by. Lots of sugar and saturated fatty acids completely unbalance your gut flora. Consequence: skin problems such as psoriasis can rear their head, but a dull complexion, puffiness, spots, pimples and pimples could also be the result.

Flake
The researchers focused their research on the skin disease psoriasis, an inherited disease in which the skin turns red, itches and develops white flakes. Some patients not only have symptoms on the skin, but also problems with inflammation in their joints. The disease is probably related to disturbances in the immune system.

Bowel flora in balance
Previous studies by the University of California have already shown a link between an imbalance in gut flora and problems with inflammation throughout the body, including in the skin. This was shown in studies with mice, but the researchers see enough reason to extend their research to humans, as they expect the effects might be similar.

Out with sugar
The good news: you can easily reverse that too. The researchers found that people who started eating healthier (drastically less sugar, no ready meals and less going to the Maccie) also visibly improved. Tasty fruits and vegetables are also very good against pimples, they say.
