Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: the watermelon-mojito fruit salad.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 watermelon
  • 1 container of blueberries and 1 container of strawberries (optional)
  • 18 fresh mint leaves
  • 3 heaping teaspoons of powdered sugar
  • juice of 1 lime
  • 1 tablespoon of white rum (optional)

‘Possible’ I say, because you can of course also make a great fruit salad without us immediately pushing you back to the drinks. But if you want, with a splash of rum you suddenly have an extremely attractive watermelon mojito salad on the table!

Here's how to make a watermelon mojito salad
Of course, you can vary with whatever fruit you like, and the mojito element comes in here with the addition of rum, mint, lime, and sugar. It's a matter of adding in the quantities you enjoy, so it's not really a recipe, but the Instagram example below is a great starting point! And oh yes; no feta goes in here. Feta has no place here, the rum and sugar ask if it could just stay home.

  • Cut a quarter of a watermelon into pieces and place in a large bowl.
  • If you also want to add other fruits like berries or sliced strawberries; go ahead!
  • Chop the mint leaves and mix with the powdered sugar and lime juice.
  • Pour over the fruit, add the rum, and gently stir.
  • Done, let’s party!
