YES: the reboot of Pretty Little Liars is online

Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin

Finally. I feel like we've really been waiting for this for years, but that's over now: the reboot of Pretty Little Liars is online on HBO Max. And at HBO Max, they clearly still don't understand what we viewers need, namely the ability to binge an entire season at once. No, we have to go back to the old-fashioned way of waiting each week. They have only put the first three episodes online. The horror...

But well, we have to make do with it. I've already devoured the first episode, mainly out of curiosity about how badly this could be ruined. Because let's not pretend that Pretty Little Liars was an incredibly good series. The last season was just one gigantic trainwreck and we couldn't stop watching.

So yes, I was a bit scared of all the secret British twin sisters that would appear in Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin. The counter is currently — fortunately — still at zero. Well, there is an American twin sister by the way, but she's already known. That might also have to do with the fact that the creator of the original series (I. Marlene King) has nothing to do with this.

What is there to see in the very first episode? Anyway, a few deaths occur and we already saw the infamous letter A appear, even in the first few minutes. The mother of one of the main characters is found dead in a bathtub, with a big A above her. What her daughter and her friends don't know is that this mother used to be a Mean Girl, along with the mother of the other kids. It now seems like this A wants to take revenge on these mothers. Because those mothers know damn well what they have done, you can tell by the countless flashbacks and ominous statements like ’there's crazy people out there’ that they make randomly. Aaahh, I've missed this.

But why is all this happening? And why now? And what are those kids going to do about it? Well, I'm already completely into the series. Can they act a bit? HAHA. Nooo. Seriously, the acting is at times so bad and the scare jumps a la Scream (the flashbacks) are hilarious, but I can't stop watching. Already. In that sense, it's actually exactly the same as the real Pretty Little Liars. The only plus is that we already have a person associated with this A in the first episode. A sort of ‘I know what you did last summer’ type. Now that I think about it, this person looks exactly like that guy with the hook. Good imitation.
