8x why a holiday romance is the most fun
We have all undoubtedly had a holiday romance at some point. Someone who seems to be the love of your life in the hottest temperatures, but as soon as you get home, you have no interest anymore because they are actually not your type at all. The holiday romance disappears even faster than it blooms. My first holiday romance was a promoter from Mallorca whom I met on the romantic night out in El Arenal. So this is what it feels like to be truly in love, I thought, but soon I found out that this creep was just doing his job and multiple women fell victim to him. Well, I can't say I was really heartbroken about it. And that's the beauty of a holiday romance: it lasts only a short time and that's just right. Isn't that actually wonderful?
1. It never lasts long
As I mentioned above: it never lasts long. The chance of your heart being broken by your holiday romance is therefore very small. Especially if you are newly single, you are not looking for something that could lead to trouble. Fortunately, a holiday romance lasts so short that you are long gone before the ‘trouble’ phase even starts. Isn't that just great?
2. It doesn't matter that it's superficial
Maybe you can't exchange a word with your holiday romance who speaks broken English, but that doesn't matter at all, because a holiday romance is not about a deeper connection. A holiday romance is there to have fun with, so it's perfectly fine if looks are your priority.
3. You don't have to wait long for a first date
At home, you can have someone in your sights for months before you finally land that first date. On holiday, there is of course no time for that, so action is taken quickly. You also don't have to wait weeks for a follow-up date; that just happens the next day. The pace is kept up nicely, and we love that.
4. In the summer, you feel better
In the summer, we feel much prettier than in the winter, right? Especially on holiday, when we have a nice tan and feel good about ourselves. Everyone just looks better in the summer, so you and your holiday romance also look very attractive together.
5. Original dates
At home, you don't get much further than the cinema or having a drink for a date, but on holiday, you can have the most fun dates together. You can go to the beach at night without getting cold, watch the most beautiful sunsets, or have an adventurous date on a boat. There is so much more possible on holiday; every date somewhere else is more fun.
6. No expectations
From both sides, there are zero expectations, and that makes a holiday romance so wonderfully carefree. You can enjoy the moment and don't have to worry about how you might eventually break up with him/her one day. That day will simply come as soon as one of the two steps back on the plane home. Enjoy the pleasures but not the burdens: super.
7. You dare more
The chance that you will see him/her again after that holiday is very small, so why not experiment in bed right away? In a budding relationship, you might dare much less; a holiday romance is therefore the ideal test subject.
8. Only experience the peak of being in love
You won't go beyond the first phase of being in love, so this is the only phase you experience with a holiday romance. In other words: day in and day out on a pink cloud, what more could you want?
